The Program Branch is responsible for the analysis of departmental plans, programs and organizational proposals and for recommendations to Treasury Board the acceptance or modification of proposals in accordance with the financial and other priorities of the government. It is responsible for developing the estimates which reflect the expenditure decisions of the government for presentation to Parliament.
The portion of this accession with archival value consists of operational files covering various departments and agencies relating to the review of their programs, budgets, Multi-year Operational Plans, and estimates together with policy files on the more general topics of budget coordination, decentralization, the expenditure management system. Other records relate to briefs, parliamentary matters, capital projects and supply.
