This series contains material collected or generated during Judith Merrils's life prior to her move to Canada in the late 1960's, as well as material created and collected by Judith Merril's parents, Ethel and Samuel (Shlomo) Grossman.

Materials created and/or collected by Judith Merril include newsletters, and magazines, such as Fouturian Home Journal (produced by Judith Merril and Virginia Kidd, out of Hangover House) Distemper, Temper, and Science Fiction Magazine (produced by the Vanguard Amateur Press Association, out of Hangover House). Other publications include Parents' Crier, and Tower (Morris High School Newsletter, New York). Other materials include correspondence, school applications, household schedules, and photographs.

Also included in the series is material concerning the Vietnam War Statement, which was a brief activism movement culminating in a list of Science Fiction writers who opposed the USA involvement in the war in Vietnam. Files contain correspondence about the effort, about the advertisement in the SF publications, and about opposition to the movement.

This series contains a collection of material belonging to Judith Merril's Parents. This includes play manuscripts, drafts, sheet music, and other published works created and/or translated by Samuel Grossman; Correspondence and other assorted documents belonging to Ethel Grossman.
