Series consists of material generated through the creation and assembly of anthologies where Judith Merril was Editor.

The anthologies included in this series are:Shot in the Dark (1950), Beyond Human Ken (1952), Beyond the Barriers of Space and Time (1954), Human? (1954),Galaxy of Ghouls (1955), Thin Edge(19--?), S-F: The Year's Greatest Science Fiction and Fantasy/Annual of the Year's Best S-F series, #1-12 (1956-1968), SF 13 (unpublished), SF: The Best of the Best (1967), and England Swings SF (1968).

The material in this series includes edited and annotated copies of Introductions, Summations, and editor's commentary placed between stories within anthologies acting as short introductions to the authors, works, and topics. Other contents include tentative content lists, Author names, publication lists and mailing addresses, Author contracts, correspondence with publishers concerning permissions to reprint, copyright certificates, financial documentation (including author/publisher payments, cheque stubs, accounting worksheets, income/expense statements, royalty statements, royalty cheque stubs, etc).

This series contains a collection of Index cards listing publications by authors considered by Merril for inclusion in anthologies. Index cards are mostly organized by Author last name.

Also included are publisher proofs of The 9th Annual of the Year's Best S-F, SF12, England Swings SF, and Path into the Unknown: The Best of Soviet Science Fiction.
