Reid, Fraser Daniel : Fraser Daniel Reid was born in 1880 at Kingston, Ontario. He was educated at Queen's University where he pursued a degree in mining engineering. He worked in his student days and after graduation from university at the Cobalt silver mine. He then became manager of Coniagas Mines and eventually Vice-President. Reid was also a director of the Eldorado Company and of National Life.

Reid actively promoted mining education and was one of the main forces in launching provincial mining schools. In recognition for this and his many technical contributions to mining he was given an honorary doctorate from Queen's University in 1941.

Reid died in 1955. (From: The Northern Miner, September 29, 1955).
