This sub-series documents the activities of Jim Pimblett, Executive Assistant to Prime Minister Paul Martin, from December 2003 to February 2006.
The sub-series contains files that were created and managed by Pimblett, whose responsibilities included managing the Prime Minister's schedule.
The sub-series primarily contains briefing books, briefing notes to the Prime Minister, correspondence, subject files as well as Jim Pimblett and his assistant's working documents.

The sub-series consists in five sub-sub-series: Prime Minister's Briefing Books for Meetings of the Cabinet and Cabinet Committees, Notes to the Prime Minister from the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet, Subject Files, Staff Files and Working Papers of the Office of the Executive Assistant.

Pimblett, Jim, 1973- : Jim Pimblett (1973- ) has a Bachelor's degree in political science, as well as an MBA. He began his career in the political arena as a senior advisor to the Leader of the Official Opposition in Ontario, Dalton McGuinty.

He became the Legislative Assistant to the Minister of Finance, Paul Martin, in 2001-2002. During the transition period and the leadership campaign following Paul Martin's departure from the Department of Finance, in 2002-2003, Pimblett remained close to Martin and managed his schedule, among other things. When Paul Martin became Prime Minister, Jim Pimblett became his Executive Assistant. After the 2006 election, Paul Martin stepped down as the Liberal party leader, and Jim Pimblett became the Chief of Staff in the office of Paul Martin, who remained a Member of Parliament until 2008.

Jim Pimblett then went to the office of the Official Opposition Leader, Michael Ignatieff, where he was the Director of Parliamentary Affairs and the Executive Assistant to the Leader, in 2009-2010. He later left the political arena to work for the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement Secretariat (2010-2011), nD Insight (2011-2012), and The Beaconsfield Group.

Custodial history:

The documents were created and received by Jim Pimblett, executive assistant to Paul Martin in 2003-2006. The documents were then given to Paul Martin, who deposited them with LAC in 2008 and in 2011.
