This sub-sub-series contains correspondence arranged by author's function.

The correspondence (originals and copies) is occasionally addressed to Paul Martin, and often addressed to Tim Murphy, who also received many carbon copies of letters addressed to Paul Martin or other recipients. The correspondence does not appear to have been entered into the correspondence system of the Prime Minister's Office.

The correspondence includes letters from ambassadors, Paul Martin's Cabinet ministers, MPs, provincial and territorial premiers, and Canadian senators. The letters cover subjects such as Lebanon and Hezbollah, energy efficiency, la Francophonie, the sponsorship scandal, same-sex marriage, security issues during international meetings, the stripper scandal and offshore revenues.

The files generally contain incoming correspondence, annotations written by Murphy or other advisors to Paul Martin, and, in some cases, documents related to the letter's content.
