This sketchbook is one of a group of seven donated by the artist. It contains eleven sketches which document his participation in the Second World War, portraying portraits of colleagues, scenes in Nienhagen, Germany, a poster design, and several sketches of mural designs for a mural the artist eventually painted on the walls of the Officers' Mess at the Canadian Army Camp at Aldershot in England.
