Recording of the testimonial dinner given by the city of Windsor to honour the career of Paul Martin Sr. After 10 minutes of presentation of the head table and various guests, followed by around 15 minutes of indistinct chatter. Then some speeches given in tribute to Paul Martin’s career by: Prime Minister Pierre Eliott Trudeau, on Martin’s role in defending the minorities rights; Minister of Transport Paul Hellyer, about Martin’s career and their friendship; the Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations George Ignatieff, concerning Martin’s work as Secretary of State for External Affairs; the [Ambassador of Austria to Canada Eugen Buresch], on behalf of the international community; the President of the University of Windsor John Francis Leddy, on behalf of the city of Windsor; former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, on anecdotes including a meeting between Martin and United States President Lyndon Johnson; former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker; New Democratic Party Member of Parliament for Vancouver East Harold Edward Winch; and Leader of Ralliement des créditistes Réal Caouette. Followed by a speech by Paul Martin Sr. about his roots in Windsor and his political life, including the impact on his family life. Master of ceremony then reads 3 telegrams by Governor General Roland Michener, Secretary-General of the United Nations U Thant, and Ontario Premier John Robarts.
