This accession consists of case files from the Canada Manpower Industrial Training Program. The Canada Manpower Industrial Training Program was established in June 1974, building on the department's previous Adult Occupational Training-In-Industry activities, as well as on its separate Canada Manpower Training-on-the-Job Program.

The Canada Manpower Industrial Training Program (CMITP) offered "factory classrooms" in addition to offering employers financial and consultative assistance to train or expand their training capacity. The CMITP enabled the federal government to enter into contracts with employers to reimburse training costs incurred after a training plan had been approved by provincial officials. (In Alberta, a slightly different arrangement existed where a federal-provincial agreement made the province jointly responsible for both CMITP costs and administration.)

The case files in this accession consist of CMITP contracts from 1977 to 1978. The case files contain training expense claim forms, training monitor reports and contracts between the CEIC and various employers. The case files were maintained in the 3000 block and are arranged in numeric sequence. The records had been maintained by the Canadian Jobs Strategy and Employment Services Programs.
