Interview of Alex McLennan, Ernie Hallwell, Lil Ilomaki and Louise Sandler about the On to Ottawa Trek. Alex McLennan was involved in the mobilization and organization of the Hamilton contingent for the On to Ottawa Trek. Ernie Hallwell was born in Nottingham, England and came to Canada in 1920. He was involved in the organization of unemployed people from Windsor and Oakville. He was involved with the Trek as far as Oshawa and then returned to his own jurisdiction. Lil Ilomaki, born in Toronto, was a member of the Young Pioneers, was a part-time organizer, was involved in the free speech movement and was a speaker on the Trek. Louise Sandler was age 15 at the time of the Trek and was the youngest member of the Trek. The interviewees talk about the background leading up to the Trek, a continuation of the Trek that was smashed in Regina, the strategy, organization, incidents which occurred on the Trek, how they got their food and accommodation in the towns along the way, what happened when they got to Ottawa and the responses they received. <2h 15mn>
