The Drug Research Laboratory of the Health Protection Branch carries out scientific investigations, such as toxilogical and pharmacological research on marketed drugs, to provide information required for the administration of legislation for which the Drugs Directorate is responsible.

This accession consists of handwritten working notes, studies, research results, internal departmental and published reports, copies of conference papers and memoranda from what appears to be several research projects conducted in the 1970s and early 1980s within the Drug Research Laboratory. It appears that the material came from the office of Dr. Barry Thomas, former head of the Laboratory. There is no discernable file classification system.
