This series contains documents of honours and awards received by Norman M. Paterson and his wife Eleanor during their lives. The majority of the documents are oversized. Also included are certificates of appointments and memberships sent to John N. Paterson as a lawyer and as Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of The Lake Superior Scottish Regiment.

Notably in the series, there is a certificate which was given to the Honourable Norman M. Paterson on the occasion of his 100th birthday, signed by Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau.

The medal in container 755 was produced and given to Norman M. Paterson by A.A.S.R. Canada (Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada) for his 50-year masonic membership (1917 to 1967). This medal made in bronze was signed by the artist Ster.
