Custodial history:

The records in this sub-series were initially maintained by the Directorate of Records within National Defence Headquarters. In 1948, they were transferred to the War Service Records Division of the Department of Veterans' Affairs when it took responsibility for post-service military files. In 1971, this responsibility and the related records were transferred to the National Personnel Records Centre of the Public Archives of Canada.
