Television documentary which takes a look at the city of Toronto and some of its inhabitants. Kaleidoscope of footage depicting a city of contrasts and variety includes: people horseback riding through the city; at a fashion photography session, a young model talks about her career in Toronto; old age pensioners line up for a soup kitchen meal; a policeman comments as he drives up and down his Yonge Street beat; an ex-convict talks about life on the street; a musician plays the piano in a night club; traffic jams along the expressways and comments from motorists; construction sites; airport arrivals; a welcoming speech to recent immigrants and immigrants at work in factories; young hippies in Yorkville; Scottish highlanders parading outside City Hall. A look at a recently completed luxury apartment building is contrasted with city living in Cabbagetown, where a young mother talks about life in the east end, accompanied by clips of household effects being repossessed and shots of an elderly tenant chasing her landlord with a broom. Toronto mayor William Dennison also comments.
