Interview of J. Bruce Marshall by Don Phillipson. Subjects discussed include: Biology Division and post-war organization; R.K. Larmour and his succession by Ledingham; rapeseed industry and its beginning as a wartime need for special lubricating oils for steam turbines; Marshall's years at the Prairie Research Lab; Prairie Research Lab projects originated in the lab include Strawboard Mill and Oilseeds industry; Prairie Research Lab Research Policy; post-war development of the Ottawa Biology Division; NRC Associate Committee on Radiobiology; pre-war Biology Division worked on food group and malting, and the barley group under W.H. Bruce Marshall worked at the NRC Division of Applied Biology in 1940. He was also Administrative Assistant to Director at the Prairie Research Laboratory in 1947, Secretary of Honorary Advisory Council from 1957 to 1962 and 1966 to 1968, NRC Liaison Officer in 1962, and Secretary for Associate Committees to retirement from 1971 to 1976.
