Amagoalik, Simeonie, 1933-2011 : Simeonie Amagoalik was born in Inukjuak, Quebec on May 1, 1933. In 1953, he was among a group of Inuit relocated by the federal government to Resolute Bay, North West Territories. He was a well-known soapstone carver, and in 2010, he sculpted a monument to commemorate the High Arctic relocatees in Resolute Bay. Amagoalik died in 2011.
