Television public affairs program with host Frank Willis. Reporter Tom Hill presents this report on Cuba after one year of rule under Fidel Castro. In the Gonzales home, individual family members praise Castro and the actions of his government. Footage of flea markets and Cuban street scenes accompany opinions from people in the street. Dr. Olivia Vexelman Robertson, an Argentinian psychiatrist, discusses Castro's regime and his appeal for the people of Latin America. Film clips include: street musicians and deserted hotels; a citizens' militia practising drills; Fidel Castro taping a television broadcast; his brother Raoul, Chief of the Armed Forces, making a speech; and co-operative farmers cutting sugar cane on a large plantation. A group of students voice their opinions on Castro's regime and Cuban newspaper columnist Ricardo [Villa] reflects on Cuba's future. Captain of land reform, Nunez [Jimenez] discusses the application of China's land reform policies and Hubert Matthews of the New York Times talks with Tom Hill about Castro's charisma and the plausibility of a communist system for Cuba.
