This sub sub series documents the activities of the communications unit of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) as well as its staff. The documents in this sub-sub-series reflect the duties of the various members of this unit, including the director and deputy director of communications; the deputy chief of staff: communications; the director of online information; the press secretary; the Prime Minister's image consultant; and speech writers.

These employees include Scott Reid, Marc Roy, Jean-Michel Picher, Melanie Gruer, Scott Feschuk, James Wilson and Jay Strauss.

The sub-sub-series contains electronic documents that were found on employees' personal drives and on the shared drive of this division of the PMO, as well as some employees' electronic agendas and emails.

The documents include press reviews; press releases; drafts of speeches and speaking notes; documents containing key political messages and information received from the Privy Council Office to be included in speeches; some interview transcripts; emails (80,114 emails in total); and electronic agendas.

Arrangement note:

The archivists maintained the original file arrangement during processing. The emails boxes and the electronic agendas (Outlook calendars) were entirely kept. No selection or reorganization was done to the PST files.

The sub-series Photographs of the Prime Minister of Canada series includes all the photographs taken by the two official photographers of the Prime Minister's Office. They were employees of the Communications' Unit.

The Paul Martin Audio-Visual Records series includes interviews, scrums, speeches and press conferences for the entire 2003-2006 period. Transcripts are also available for the major part of these records.
