The records in this accession were maintained on and/or created under the Atmospheric Environment Service Pacific Region Headquarters Office central registry in Vancouver, B.C. For the period prior to 1971, records on these files were created by Transport Canada and maintained on the Air Services Registry, Air Services, Meteorological Branch, Regional Headquarters office, Vancouver, which was the Atmospheric Environment Services predecessor. The records in this accession document weather forecasting for the marine, agricultural, and forestry sectors, the establishment and operation of meteorological stations across British Columbia, and the organization and administration of the service's buildings, land, and properties. There is also a file on the administrative reorganization which brought the service into the new Department of Environment Canada in the early 1970's.

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
