The series consists of textual records documenting the youth programs and projects of the Canadian Unity Council, including "Encounters with Canada", "Educanada" (a predecessor of "Encounters") and "Experience Canada", among others. The series includes program proposals, correspondence, memoranda and reports pertaining to program planning activities and evaluations by the Council. There are also reports originating from the Director General of the Council's Youth Programs Division, divisional activity reports, and statistical data pertaining to student participation. Records from "Experience Canada" include marketing and communications proposals, plans and research covering promotional activities such as newspaper advertising, signage, public service announcement campaigns and corporate, political and community outreach activities. Financial information includes government contributions, banking and security arrangements, budgets and statements of revenues and expenditures. In addition, there is a Repeat Business Analysis of Work Experience Providers and the first edition of "The Link: Newsletter of the Alumni Association of Experience Canada / Le Lien: Bulletin d'information de l'Association des anciens participants d'Expérience Canada". There is very little documentation for "Encounters with Canada", most of which was kept by the surviving program when it was transferred to the Historica Foundation. But the series does include correspondence, reports, legal documentation and newspaper clippings regarding the leasing and expansion of the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre. In addition, the series contains some information about other youth programs, including "Transit", "Canada 25", and the "Summer Work-Student Exchange program" of the Department of Canadian Heritage, which was supported by the Canadian Unity Council.
