This is a preliminary sub-sub-series; please consult the linked accession record, boxes 12 to 25, for details.

Sub-sub-series consists of a Transport Canada index card system for Air Occurrence Reports, 1948 to April 1977. For each occurrence, basic information (e.g., pilot name, aircraft make and model, location of accident, etc.) was typewritten on a punch card. In some cases an accident summary is also recorded on the card. The cards are organized chronologically by date. The sub-sub-series is particularly useful for researchers who have the exact date of an occurrence, but are missing other basic information (e.g., aircraft registration marking).

Although the 5" x 8" cards are punch cards, the punch card functionality appears not to have been used for many date ranges.

Source of title:

Title is based on the contents of the sub-sub-series.

Custodial history:

The records were transferred by the Transportation Safety Board at the time of its creation in 1990. Because the records pertain to occurrences when the Department of Transport was responsible for air occurrence investigation, the index card system been included in the Transport Canada fonds.
