Interview of Professor Ta-You Wu by Don Phillipson. Subjects discussed include: Dr. Gerhard Herzberg; early days at NRC; summer seminars for Canadian universities; most fashionable field in physics was quantum field theory; need for more staff in Wu's Division; death of Steacie; theoretical physics at Canadian universities from 1949 to 1963 had few stars and Wu had little contact with leading Canadian physicists; Wu's early career and education; Chalk River Nuclear Labs had a few theoretical physicists, but not nearly so broadly based as Wu and NRC; evolution of separate Pure and Applied Physics Divisions at NRC; book publications; NRC library; seminars; T.D.
