The Paul Martin audio-visual series consists of approximately 220 individual video or film recordings, 1,700 audio recordings and 11,970 transcripts in electronic form (1,055.574 MB). While there will be a small selection of Paul Martin family movies which date as far back as the 1930s, as well as a small selection of material up to 2009, the vast majority of the material covers the period of 1988 to 2006, with the greatest amount of material being from when Paul Martin was Prime Minister of Canada (12 December 2003 to 6 February 2006). The recordings consist mainly of interviews, scrums, speeches, roundtable discussions and news conferences by Paul Martin.

The video recordings include a small selection of material pre-dating Paul Martin's entry into politics, highlighting his success as a business man and owner of Canadian Steamship Lines (CSL), a selection of material from when Paul Martin first announced his candidacy for the riding of LaSalle-Émard, Quebec, in 1988, the 1990 and 2003 LPC Leadership Races, and a smaller selection of material from 1991 to 2002 and 2006 to 2009.

The audio recordings include a very comprehensive set of daily recordings of scrums, speeches, roundtable discussions and interviews from when Paul Martin was Prime Minister (2003 to 2006), as well as a separate set of almost 12,000 transcripts for the same period, a smaller selection of audio recordings of interviews from when he was Minister of Finance, particularly for the year 1996, and a small selection of Paul Martin Sr. audio recordings.
