The print shows two scenes. The upper scene is depicts British sailors hunting. The lower scene shows British sailors interacting with Inuit, including the presentation of a mirror to the Inuit.

Custodial history:

This print was purchased by the National Archives of Canada in 1992. It was temporarily misplaced and was registered in 2004 when parts of the LAC collection moved from Ottawa to Gatineau. The accession record was created in 2012.

Signatures and inscriptions note:

The title is inscribed in the centre of the print. The recto also bears the inscription "Pub Jan 1st 1824 by Thos. McLean 26 Haymarket. Below this printed inscription the word "Arctic" has been written with pencil.
The verso is inscribed with a description which reads, "Ships HMS Fury + Hecla Voyage (We) Parry + Lyon (GF) 1821-23 Depicting events in caricature [illegible] Perry's 2nd voyage + his meetings with Eskimos." The signature of Miss Florence Peacock also appears inn pencil in several places on the verso along with the date February 15th, 1835.
