Ontario Film Development CorporationDescription:Some 125,000 British orphans and abandoned children who were shipped to Canada between 1867 and 1914, without guardians, by well-intentioned Christian institutions. Victim of the advance of the Industrial Revolution in Britain, the children came to Canada with hopes of finding "Heaven on Earth" in the loving arms of a family. For some, Canada was indeed a salvation. But for many it was a battle for survival.
