Collection search - Central registry files of Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, Victoria, B.C. [textual record]

Accession consists of a variety of records transferred from the Dominion Observatory, Victoria. Included among these are central registry files, Director's correspondence, technical reports and research data compiled by various staff members. Weekly meteorological reports, reports prepared by consulting engineers regarding the proposed Queen Elizabeth II telescope, along with several boxes of published material comprise the remainder of accession. Stray objects/items such as keys are also found in the accession.

Upon dissolution of the Observatories Branch (the predecessor to the Dominion Observatories) in 1970, the records were transferred to the National Research Council (which assumed responsibility for the astronomy function) and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (which assumed responsibility for all other functions). Thus, these records, while created and used by the Dominion Observatories, were transferred by the NRC at the end of their operational usefulness.
