A special program on the third anniversary of the declaration of the Second World War, with a salute to the fighting men of Dieppe. The script is by a Canadian Army private.~A dramatic outline of the war effort in Canada; trains carrying a million men a month; planes, tanks, try and count them, more than all the feathers on an eagle. We have won the battle of the production lines - we won it hands down. Do you hear it, soldier? We have thousands of fighting men marching across the parade squares of Canada. We are running out of room, so we are shipping lots of the boys to train with Uncle Sam's forces at Fort Benning. We are going to send a Canadian force overseas that will slice the Germans to ribbons.~We will send to the Continent an army that the world has never seen before. Yes, there will be millions of men of the United Nations, carrying a dagger made of Canadian steel and they will plunge it into the rotten heart of Germany.~We have a new plan called the Atlantic Charter, which after this war, will banish forever from the face of the earth the curse of war and the lust for conquest.~That's our plan, Joe. There will be no more poverty; the world's going to be clear and bright. We are going to clean the world up, remember, Joe, the United Nations.~The program concludes with Frank Willis reciting a poem entitled "At Dieppe". <30mn 30s>
