These records consist of files of worksheets and correspondence of the British Columbia H.Q. of the Health Protection Branch, logging inquiries from the public (private persons, universities, businesses, doctors, scientists) on the subject of human drugs (project code DHOO). The inquiries cover a wide variety of contemporary concerns relating to drugs, such as queries from or about doctors prescribing specific drugs; quality and content; licensing and legal status in Canada; importation and commercial regulations; effectiveness of naturopathic treatments; complaints about misuse or adverse side effects; and general requests for published information. Up to about March 1981 the records consist of individual "Summary of Regional Work Activity" sheets concerning telephone inquiries, giving name, address and position in inquirer, summary of the query, and a summary (often detailed) of the verbal response (with copy of written response and enclosures in some cases). After about March 1981 the files also include written inquiries and those submitted on "Product Complaint" forms (HPB 6004).

Custodial history:

These records were originally held in British Columbia. They were transferred to the National Capital Region in 2016 and are available for consultation there.
