Accompanying material note:

Originally accompanied by tinware box [accession no. R11648-12], which acted as the enclosure for the card. The tinware box is similar to boxes sent by Queen Victoria as gifts to the troops in South Africa during the first Christmas season of the Boer War, which normally contained a Christmas greeting from the Queen [missing] and also tobacco and chocolate.

The card and tin box have been rehoused for security and conservation reasons.

Related material:

A tinware box, sent by Queen Victoria, is similar to the tinware box which originally held this item. It is located at the Hamilton Military Museum, near Dundurn Castle. The caption information was used to define the scope and content of the Kenneth Rowe items.
