This accession consists of records created and maintained by the World Food Program, the Bilateral Food Aid Program and the Canadian Commercial Corporation. These organizations were responsible for arranging for contracts for purchase and delivery of various food substances and small machinery and equipment required to fill the CIDA projects or programs operating in a specific country.

The records of the World Food Program (Boxes 1-8) and the Bilateral Food Aid Program (Boxes 9-14) consist of correspondence, contracts, invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, progress reports, requests for payment relating to purchase arrangements in Canada, shipping arrangements, inspection services and accounting procedures for projects in various countries (e.g. purchase of beans for the Congo.)

These files are arranged numerically by type of project or country. They are also arranged alphabetically by country within type of project.
The records of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (Boxes 15-17) include the same type of records described above, relating to the supply of small machinery and equipment (i.e. tools, industrial and electrical machinery and parts, dies, peanut shellers, etc.) to various projects funded by CIDA in a number of countries (e.g. a water development project in Montserrat).
