The ninth episode in this television documentary series looks at the siege of Stalingrad by the German and Russian armies.~The following events and topics are covered: the thrust towards Stalingrad by the German Panzer divisions; Hitler's army push towards and capture of Rostov; Stalingrad and its defences; the Luftwaffe offensive and Stalingrad's anti-aircraft defence; the German destruction of Stalingrad and the aftermath; the entry of German troops into Stalingrad; Russian re-supply efforts to relieving Stalingrad; Russian morale boosting; the Russian build-up around Stalingrad; the Russian attackl the Luftwaffe's supply airlift; the Russian siege; and the German surrender.~The following shots, scenes and sounds are seen and heard: view of Soviet small arms munitions plants furiously at work; a photograph of Field Marshal Von Paulus; Russian cavalry troops; the decimation of German troops; Soviet medical field hospitals; and Von Paulus being led by Soviet soldiers to headquarters where he officially surrenders to the Soviet High Command which, under the leadership of General Shumilov, examines his papers and questions him. <60mn>
