Dr DC Macphail started with the Division of Mechanical Engineering in 1947 as a research scientist. Occasionally acting as Director of the Division, he was formally appointed to this position in 1957.
Accession includes various documents transferred from the office of DR DC MacPhail, Director of the Division of Mechanical Engineering. Included are files related to staffing at the NRC, as well as different investigations, including the 'Ripple Rock Project', Hydrofoils, etc. While the documents were transferred from Dr MacPhail's office, many of them appear to be related to the work of his predecessor, Dr JH Parkin.
Accession includes approximately 70 employee identification pins from ca. 1941 - 1942. Of the estimated 70 pins, 4 are large pins for guards at the NRC's Montreal Road Laboratories, 2 are small round metal pendants, and the remainder consist of small pins that read "N.R.L.," a number, and then the date 1941 or 1942.
