THE NAKINA AGENCY WAS CREATED IN 1955 TO ADMINISTER A NUMBER OF BANDS IN NORTHERN ONTARIO WHICH HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN ATTACHED TO THE PORT ARTHUR, SIOUX LOOKOUT, CHAPLEAU, OR JAMES BAY AGENCIES.
THE RECORDS IN THIS ACCESSION RELATE TO A RANGE OF SUBJECTS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON WELFARE CASE FILES (AGED ALLOWANCES, RELIEF EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES, MOTHERS ALLOWANCE, DISABLED PERSONS ALLOWANCES). OTHER SUBJECTS INCLUDE SCHOOL BUILDINGS, ESTATES, NATURAL RESOURCES (FISHING), ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION, FOOD PRESERVATION PROJECTS, MEDICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES.
