Album is 1 of 11 bound albums which include Victorian scapbooks, and catalogues and order books for greeting cards, and donor's presentation albums. This album is part of a collection which also includes loose items, artifacts and general ephemera with photographic and philatelic elements.

Album has blue dimpled coated cloth covers; front with title stamped in gold lettering and stamped outer border painted in black paint or ink; back cover with stamped unpainted outer border; it has 2 brown paper fly leafs, front and back covers. It is sectioned by different coloured papers and is comprised of 84 folios with some 98 items. It seems to be a progressive journal documenting the original owner's life between May 22, 1876 and ca. July 26,1880. Album includes textual material (15 items) notes and letters (some by other hands: e.g. Katy Armour, Lakehurst, Cobourg), textual lists, favourite poems; (12) original drawings or composite original with printed cut-outs; (67) printed scraps and cards including Christmas and Birthday, (4) photographs. Some items are laid down to pages, others are hinged into cut tabs in the pages.

Christmas cards are by various publishers including: E.I.T., Joseph Mansell, London, Marcus Ward & Co., L. Prang & Co., Boston and Eyre & Spottiswoode, London. Many cards are unidentified and some have been attributed to general sources, being most likely either English or American.

Note on the state of conservation:

Album is very fragile and in poor / fair physical condidition. Folio pages are of thin, fragile paper, to which greeting cards have been inserted into paper corner cuts, or have been laid down to paper.
