Sound recording of an edition of Tributes in Tempo, a radio series of tributes to outstanding musicians featuring recordings from the private collections of the co-hosts, Helen McNamara and Alex Barris (who are, respectively, record critics of the Toronto Telegram and Toronto Globe and Mail). This edition showcases the music of the jazz vibraphonist and composer Joe Roland. The Roland recordings played back during the programme are: Goodbye Bird, composed by Roland; Swedish Pastry, performed by the George Shearing Quintet, with Roland on vibraphone; I've Got a Crush on You, performed by Artie Shaw's Gramercy 5, with Roland on vibraphone; Easy Living, performed by the Joe Roland Quintet, with Freddie Redd on piano; Sweet Lorraine, performed by the Roland Quintet. The hosts indicate that this is the penultimate edition of the series, which will end with the next programme featuring the music of Fats Waller.
