Photo depicting Eugene Derksen and Louis Yvon with two cows in Saint Labre, Manitoba. In May 1956, Mr. Yvon, a farmer and father of eight children from Saint Labre, lost his only source of income when a fire destroyed his barn and cattle. Within days, the Carillon News (Eugene Derksen as editor) organized a fundraiser which brought money to buy two cows from Albert Laramée, a farmer from La Broquerie, to give to the Yvon family. In this photograph, Eugene Derksen (left) and Louis Yvon (right) are holding the two cows that were bought for the Yvon family.
