Canada. Canadian Army. The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada : The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada is a reserve force infantry unit, part of Land Force Quebec Area, 34 CBG Brigade based in Montreal, (Quebec). After several tours in Europe, the three regular Black Watch regiments were removed from the Regular Order of Battle in 1969. One battalion remained as a militia unit stationed in Montreal. On 1 July 1970, when the 1st and 2nd Battalions were reduced to nil strength and transferred to the Supplementary Order of Battle, the Reserve Force battalion automatically relinquished its numerical designation.
