Present at the conference were: Dr. Michael Kirby, president of the Institute for Research on Public Policy; Joseph Dion, president of the Association of Indians of Alberta; Richard Price, editor of the book; and Raymond Breton, director of the program of ethnic and cultural diversity for the Institute for Research on Public Policy. Kirby and Dion made opening statements about the aims and contents of the publication and the Indian perspective toward treaty negotiations.
