In an opening statement Johnston announces and explains NASA's "Getaway Special" program and the "Getaway Special" competitions offered to the Canadian community by the National Research Council, Spar Aerospace Ltd., and Telesat Canada, which will constitute a means of getting Canadian experiments aboard the United States space shuttle. Kerwin, Trump and Golden discuss the participation of their respective organizations in these competitions, and provide additional information regarding applications and requisitions.
