The documents of this sub-series testify of the major role put assumed by the Policy and Research Office, the role which consists not only in informing, but also in advising Prime Minister and the Cabinet, in coordinating the strategic initiatives and in analyzing the politics and in supplying opinions.

These files allow to have a particular vision of files warm or considered priority having marked three mandates of Jean Chrétien as Prime Minister. More still, by following the analyses of the specialists of the Policy and Research Office, these documents offer an privileged access to the information having contributed to certain major decision-making.

This sub-series mainly contains personnal notes from Chaviva Hosek. These notes were made before the meeting with the Prime Minister. Some files also contain briefing notes, memos and reference material.
