Sound recording of the 4 March 1960 edition of the radio series CBC Variety Hour, broadcast live from Montreal. This edition features: the CBC Montreal Concert Orchestra, under the direction of arranger and pianist Neil Chotem; and folk singer Jacques Labrecque. Included are performances of: La Bamba de Vera Cruz; I Love You (composed by Cole Porter); L'hirondelle (sung by Labrecque); two dances from a suite of three dances, composed by Al Baculis; Dream Down, composed by the orchestra's first oboist Melvin Berman; unidentified, sung by Labrecque; J'ai tant dansé (arranged by Michel Perrault); Andante cantabile (Serenade), composed by Joseph Haydn; second movement, from Concerto in F, for piano and orchestra (comp. George Gershwin), with Chotem at the piano; String Jig (comp. Galt MacDermot); Next Monday Morning (from Helen Creighton's collection of Nova Scotian folk songs), sung by Labrecque; South Pacific Medley (comp. Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein).
