This print of unknown provenance depicts the American portion of Niagara Falls.

General note:

According to a notation on the verso, this print was unframed in November of 1957.
This print published in 1842 as part of "Steele's Niagara Falls Port-Folio, Containing Eight New Views of Niagara Falls. Taken From the Most Striking Points." (The Winkworth Collection of Canadiana includes a complete Port-Folio. See R9266-4519; MIKAN 3843154) These lithographs were executed by Hall & Mooney. Seven of the views were after William Barlett, except for "The Horse-shoe Fall From Goat Island" which is based on an 1830 print by William James Bennett ("Niagara Falls. To Thomas Dixon Esq. this View of the British Fall taken from Goat Island, is respectfully Inscribed by his Obedient Serv't. Henry J. Megarey."
