Series consists of research by Jonathan V. Plaut on the history of the Jewish community in Windsor, Ontario. This research was the basis of Plaut's book, "The Jews of Windsor, 1790-1990: a historical chronicle," published in 2007. Files include Rabbi Plaut's research notes, subject files, transcripts of interviews with members of the Windsor Jewish community, bulletins and minutes of the Windsor Jewish Community Council, minutes of the Windsor Jewish Federation, and historical material from two Windsor synagogues, Congregation Beth-El and Congregation Shaar Hashomayim. Some of the research notes are on typed index cards. The series also includes correspondence regarding "The Jews of Windsor" and draft manuscripts. The 1372 photographs in the series are of individuals and places significant to the Windsor Jewish community.

Some research concerning the history of Windsor's Jewish community can be found in the "Personal and Congregational Records" series, volume 2.
