The only contact these caribou hunters had with the outside world were occasional visits to trading posts on the Labrador coast and Ungava Bay. For almost a decade, beginning in 1903, Cabot made annual trips to Labrador to meet up with the Naskapi. Over the years he mapped their routes and visited their hunting camps.
