Sound recording of performances by Oscar Peterson (piano), Lorne Lofsky (guitar), David Young (bass), Jerry Fuller (drums), and a string section of the rhythm section and string elements of selections that were, with other melody instruments added, released on the commercial recording An Oscar Peterson Christmas. Included are performances of: Winter Wonderland; Santa Claus Is Coming to Town; Let It Snow; Jingle Bells; I'll Be Home for Christmas; Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas; Away in a Manger; White Christmas. String arrangements by Rick Wilkins, who also conducted the strings. Recorded at Studio A, Manta / Eastern Sound, Toronto, in 1995. <28mn 55s>

1. Other extent, physical details information : 1 audio cassette ; polyester, digital.~2. Some information taken from the related commercial recording, including the names of musicians other than Peterson himself, the role of Wilkins, and the place and year of recording.~3. This recording does not include the melody lines performed on vibraphone and flugelhorn that are on the commercial recording, and the cassette and its case are both labelled "Vocal Practice Tape". It is likely that this recording was intended for Peterson's use in practising vocal lines for proposed vocal versions of some of the selections on the commercial recording. The fonds contains unreleased vocal versions by Peterson of three of the compositions on this recording, which supports this interpretation of its purpose.~4. The cassette is labelled "Not for Production" and "M2", the latter likely indicating that this is the second mix.
