Collection search - Energy, Mines and Resources - Headquarters - Dominion Coal Board [textual record]

This accession deals with the relationship of the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR) and the Dominion Coal Board (DCB). The records consist of three separate collections, all maintained by the EMR (boxes 1 and 2 by the Energy Sector records office and boxes 3 and 4 by EMR's headquarters records office).

1. Boxes 1 and 2 contain coal-related registry files (1947-1975).

2. Box 3 contains papers related to the Dominion Coal Board's meeting minutes (ca. 1976-1970) as well as papers related to the Royal Commission on Coal (Rand Commission) and the Interdepartmental Committee on Coal (primarily from 1959-1962), records that were presumably maintained by Keith Buch when he acted as secretary to the commission.

3. Box 4 contains an executive registry file on federal assistance to Canadian coal producers, with outside dates 1936-1966.

The following files were not transferred by Energy, Mines and Resources in this accession as the loans were outstanding until 31 December 1981: file 6087-3 parts 1-5 (Coal Production Assistance Act - Loans - Coleman Collieries Ltd. Loan # 1 & 2); file 6091-3 (Coal - Subvention Aid - Export to Japan).
