Item consists of a chequebook-style book of certificates of registrations made under the Proprietary or Patent Medicine Act.

The certificate form reads:
"Certificate of Registration for the year ending 31st March 191_
This is to Certify that _____ of _____ has this day registered as _____ of Proprietary or Patent Medicines and has paid the fee of one dollar ($1.00) prescribed by law.
Under the authority of this Certificate the Medicines mentioned in the application therefor, dated _____ 19__ or which may be subsequently added to such application under Sec. 3 of the Act, may be disposed of by _____ until the 31st of March 19__, providing all other provisions of the Act with respect thererto have been complied with.
Certificate Granted at Ottawa this ____ day of ____ 19__.
[Signed Deputy Minister of Inland Revenue]"

The certificate stub form reads:
No ___ Issued to _____ of _____ in the province of _____ for the year ending March 31 19__ to __.

The certificates are numbered from No. 1401 to No. 1500. Many certificates, such as No. 1401, have been left blank. In some cases the certificate has been removed although the completed certificate stub remains., Copyright belongs to the Crown. Credit the Library and Archives of Canada.
