A Canadian Flash Animation Festival compilation of film shorts that asks for audience participation in post performance voting for their favourite short via www.cbc.ca/mapleshorts. The program features a fish named Cella and a goose named Knuckle who introduce the shorts while participating in their own adventure. The pair are alone in a theatre. Knuckle tries to scare Cella by dimming the lights and raking a light from his chin while introducing a scary story. She is not scared but he is when the lights go out. Cella seizes the opportunity to view some shorts. The first is TALES OF THE SCARECROW, VOLUME 1, where two boys knock down a scarecrow in a corn field. They leave. That night one of the boys thinks he sees the scarecrow in his bedroom window and gets up to investigate. Later, back in bed, he is roused again but this time the scarecrow comes through the window. Fade to the morning and the broken window then to the field where the boy is now propped up as the scarecrow! Next comes A FORMULA FOR DISASTER. Set in a castle dungeon a mad scientist wants to test his new formula on his compliant prisoner, Randolph, an Aussie beaver. Randolph drinks the formula and sprouts an Afro. Back to Cella and Knuckle where Cella is fixing the fuse box; Knuckle is still terrified. He checks the lobby for lights and has a meltdown, whereupon Cella suggests more shorts. In CAMPING TRIP, Sandwich and his pickle friends set up camp on a cliff edge and their antics defy the laws of physics. In ANT ATTACK, Mego dreams of riches while army ants set up camp on his face. Mego douses his burning eye in the toilet and then barricades himself for battle as the ants approach. Back to Cella and Knuckle who think the headless usher is about to attack only to have their terror calmed by the power company fixing the lights. On to more shorts. MASTER AND TRAINEE : SHAOLIN BURGER FLIP, PART 3 has a fast food trainee tormented by his boss. Instructed in his final test, the mascot birthday party challenge to get a promotion, the trainee wears a burger head suit and enters the party room. Upon entering, he is attacked by kids but escapes by jumping through a plate glass window. As he is loaded into the ambulance his boss congratulates him for becoming assistant manager. In A MAN GOES FISHING a fisherman and his dog are in a boat. The dog has wheels in instead of legs. After a traumatic baiting of the hook, a series of casts sends the dog overboard. He is reeled in. The fisherman dreams of being dragged in and accosted by a carnivorous mermaid. It ends as rain starts. In ME & MAX a dog (Max) narrates the life and whimsical adventures he has with his owner. <26mn>
