General note:

This map shows north eastern Asia in considerable detail with major towns, rivers and physical features shown and named. By contrast the west coast of America is virtually blank with only a few mountains named. The exploration routes of Bering, Spangberg and Tschirikows are indicated as are the landfalls which they discovered. The map was published for R. Baldwin in the 1764 edition, vol. 33, p. 224 of: London Magazine. The style of the map is that of Thomas Kitchin and it is likely that it was he who was responsible for the map.
