This is an excellent map of Brockville during the 1850's. It is especially good for genealogical purposes as it indicates property owner's names and the lot numbers. The street names and places of interest are also shown. The public buildings are shaded darker than the residential buildings. The proposed railway line and terminal of the Ottawa and Brockville Railway Co. and the proposed route of the Grand Trunk Railway Co. appear on this map. The map has an ornate border with the illustrations of Brockville buildings. The illustrations are by Spencer and were drawn from Daguerreotype. The map belongs to the Brockville and Leeds County Historical Society.
